~~Basic Function: Plan and execute, with minimal professional guidance, complex semi-technical field assignments involving the installation, modification, test, inspection or repair of distribution and power transformers. Coordinate work with other groups to ensure customer requirements are being met. Recommend measures to improve field service operations and customer service.
~~Tasks:
Typical duties/responsibilities for field service may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Perform complex Transformer field service operations that typically present unusual problems requiring strong technical skills. Construct complex prototype models or simulated systems, as requested.
• Provide leadership in the assembly and operation of laboratory and field service equipment. Conduct tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of equipment and procedures. Record, compile and reduce data for analysis and assist in related assessment and preparation of reports.
• Troubleshoot and repair Transformer equipment, applying own knowledge and experience to resolve problems. Recommend changes such as new equipment or modified procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction. Conduct detailed inventories and inspections to determine necessary maintenance and repairs, and assist in determining resource requirements.
Technical and/or hands on work:
o Transformer installation, repair, assembly, testing and commissioning
o Vacuum and oil processing
o Work with shell and/or core form transformer designs and components internal to the transformer to assist with internal transformer repairs as needed.
o Read, interpret, and understand standard and complex winding configurations and vector diagrams for testing purposes.
o Electrical field-testing skills to include:
&#xxxx7; Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR)
&#xxxx7; Winding Resistance
&#xxxx7; Insulation Resistance – Megger Windings & Core
&#xxxx7; Insulation Power Factor and Capacitance
&#xxxx7; 10kV Excitation
&#xxxx7; Functional testing of control cabinets and troubleshooting control circuits
o Welding above and below oil on transformer tanks
o Load Tap Changer (LTC) maintenance and repair
• Lead the performance of assigned field services projects such as non-destructive examinations and analysis. May be responsible for direction, analysis and reports involving complex test projects.
• Assist in planning and coordinating field service team efforts. May be required to prepare quotes, enter and close orders for services projects, and manage projects as required to support the service business.
• Guide less-experienced technicians and instruct them in proper and safe operation of equipment.
• Often work non-standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions.
• Extensive domestic travel (some international travel) is required for this position.
• Will at times act as the lead on field projects while communicating clearly and professionally to customer base.
• Prepare field service job/trip reports using Microsoft word to ensure accurate reporting and cost management of each project.
Complexity of Tasks:
Highly complex problems are referred to engineers, more experienced technicians, and/or manager.

Qualifications:
• Associate's Degree in engineering/electronics or related field and 1+ years of transformer experience.
• Lesser education and 2+ years of transformer experience will also be considered
• Requires thorough understanding of Company products and equipment, engineering concepts and practices.
• Requires ability to select most effective approaches and adapting standard practices and procedures to resolve complex semi-technical problems.
• Requires strong communications skills and ability to lead less experienced staff.
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Candidates that hold a valid Journeyman electrician and/or Master electrician certification and are experienced in underground transformer network circuits are preferred, but this is not required.
• Desired Technical and/or hands on working skills:
o Knowledgeable and fully fluent in transformer installation and assembly
o Strong vacuum and oil processing understanding
o Familiarity with shell and/or core form transformer designs and components internal to the transformer to assist with internal transformer repairs as needed.
o Ability to read, interpret, and understand standard and complex winding configurations and vector diagrams for testing purposes.
o Electrical field-testing skills to include:

&#xxxx7; Insulation Resistance – Megger Windings & Core
